If you cannot see which ads make your phone ring, you cannot scale them. Here is how to track calls from Google Ads.

Google Ads can track three types of calls: calls from your ads (via call assets), calls from your website after an ad click (using a Google forwarding number), and clicks on your phone number on mobile. Set a minimum call length, often 60 seconds, so only real conversations count as conversions.
For locksmiths, clinics and cleaning companies, most leads arrive by phone. Without call tracking, Google Ads only sees form fills, so automated bidding optimizes for the wrong thing and you underestimate your real results.

When you add call assets, you can create a “Calls from ads” conversion in Goals → Conversions. Choose a minimum duration to filter short calls.
Google can swap your website number with a forwarding number for visitors who came from an ad. This shows which campaigns and keywords lead to calls after people read your page. It is usually set up with Google Tag Manager.
On mobile, track taps on your click-to-call link as a conversion. It is a useful backup signal, even though not every tap becomes a call.
Third-party call tracking tools add recordings, caller location and lead quality tagging, which help you see which calls became paying customers.
